Making A Laptop Stand

Untitled_1.114.2.jpeg

Sometimes I actually want to use my laptop on my lap, either while sat on the sofa or in bed. It is not always the most comfortable way to work and can cause the computer to over heat. To solve these problems I decided to make a simple laptop stand.

I went for a pretty simple design of three bits of wood jointed together. So to make it more interested I used box joints to joint it together.

After marking out the first set of joints I used the bandsaw to get them cut out.

For the second set of joints I used hand tool. Sawing down to my line then using a chisel to remove the waste. Using the bandsaw was defiantly the quicker of the two methods but is was a fun experiment to try and do it with hand tools.

To make it easier to carry I drilled some holes in either end to act as hand holds. Then it could be glued together.

To finish it I used some Tung oil and that’s it all done. This should come in quite handy.
